Located close to the sea, the existing trap door had suffered extensive corrosion, allowing water ingress and becoming structurally unstable over time.

The training tower is used by cadets for climbing exercises and zip-wire descents, making safety and reliability critical. Having been in service for many years, the structure was beginning to show its age.

The new trap door was fabricated from stainless steel, providing excellent corrosion resistance and durability in the harsh coastal environment. Designed to eliminate water ingress and restore structural integrity, the completed installation has significantly extended the working life of the tower, allowing it to continue to be used safely for training purposes.
