The carousel utilizes a multi-arm configuration designed for high-repetition accuracy. Each arm houses a discrete canister for varying odours, allowing handlers to pair a target scent specifically with a high-value reward—typically the dog’s preferred toy. Through systematic rotation and detection, the dog develops a strong cognitive association between the target odour and the reward. Over time, this “clever” association allows the animal to identify complex substances with surgical precision.
