Freemasons Baton
The Problem
We were entrusted with the repair and restoration of a ceremonial baton used by the Preceptor of a local Masonic Lodge. The baton is carried during lodge ceremonies as a symbol of office and is used to guide candidates and support the orderly conduct of ritual proceedings. When it came to us, the brass cross finial had broken and become detached from the baton. The brass work was heavily tarnished and dull, and the overall appearance no longer reflected the dignity of its ceremonial purpose.
What We Did
The baton features solid brass construction with a red velvet hand grip, making careful handling essential throughout the restoration. We repaired the damaged cross, expertly re-soldered it back into position, and fully re-polished the brass sections to restore their original lustre. The finished piece once again reflects the significance and pride associated with its use in Masonic ceremony.
